Medical Malpractice Case Study
John Singleton represented the family of a 32 year old electrician who had developed a liver disease as a result of exposure to chemicals while in the Navy. Although he had insurance and his wife had insurance through her job, the HMO that covered him refused to authorize a liver transplant that was necessary to save his life. He sat in the hospital for several days while livers became available and were either used by others or thrown out because the insurance company and the HMO refused to authorize the surgery. By the time the surgery was finally approved, he was too ill to be operated upon and died.
John tried the case before a Baltimore City jury who returned a verdict for millions of dollars. His spouse and his daughters are doing well. |
